Starving North Koreans are forced to eat their children :o

January 28, 2013 – NORTH KOREA - Hungry parents in North Korea have been caught eating their children to avoid starvation, according to reports. One father is said to have been executed by firing squad for killing his two kids for food. And it has sparked fears there could be further cases of cannibalism in the country. The Sunday Times told how undercover reporters recorded several horror stories from inside the poverty-stricken nation. They included one man who dug up his grandchild's corpse to eat and another who boiled his child and ate the flesh. Thousands of North Koreans are feared to be starving to death while their chubby leader Kim Jong-Un regularly dines on banquets. It is claimed that more than 10,000 people could have died from in the provinces south of the capital Pyongyang alone. One informant in South Hwanghae, said: “In my village in May a man who killed his own two children and tried to eat them was executed by a firing squad.” The informant told how the man even offered meat from his daughter and son to his wife when she returned from a business trip. He was arrested and sentenced to death after she informed the authorities and the children's bodies were found. The reports were originally compiled by Asia Press using “citizen journalists” working inside the country. One official told them: “In a village in Chongdan county, a man who went mad with hunger boiled his own child, ate his flesh and was arrested.” There is not enough food to go round the 24 million people who live in North Korea. Many face starvation because of grim conditions for food production including crippling droughts. But it is also under strict sanctions because of its nuclear ambitions. However just last week the defiant country outraged the world as it announced plans for a third nuclear missile test.

A New York City police officer

A New York City police officer charged with plotting to kidnap, torture, cook and eat at least 100 women had discussed having "girl meat" for Thanksgiving.

Prosecutors say Gilberto Valle made the remark in an online chat in February with an unidentified man. They read the transcript during Valle's bail hearing Tuesday in Manhattan federal court.

Valle was quoted as saying that while Thanksgiving was still a long way off, he was getting a plan in motion to abduct a woman for the meal.

His lawyer has said the alleged plot was pure fantasy.

The judge on Tuesday denied bail, calling Valle's behavior "depraved, bizarre, aberrational." He set the trial for Jan. 22.

Valle has pleaded not guilty.

No women were actually harmed.

Luka Magnotta Pleads Not Guilty To Dismembering Lover On Video

Luka Rocco Magnotta, the Canadian porn actor accused of dismembering his Chinese lover, having sex with and eating his corpse on video, and then mailing his body parts to schools, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to five charges, including first-degree murder.

In his first court appearance since his extradition from Germany to Montreal, the 29-year-old Magnotta entered a plea by videoconference from a Montreal detention center, CBS News reported.

Magnotta's lawyer, Pierre Panaccio, asked that Magnotta undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he's criminally responsible for the killing. The court will consider the request on Thursday.

The porn actor allegedly killed his lover and roommate, 33-year-old Jun Lin, and sent his hands and feet to Canada's political parties and two schools. Cops are still looking for Lin's head.

Investigators say that a video recorded by Magnotta shows him having sex with Lin's corpse and eating part of it.

The videos and body parts started a worldwide manhunt for Magnotta. He was arrested this month in Germany.

Cannibal Forks

It's not every day that you come across a utensil made for eating a person -- even for an oddities shop owner.

But when the folks who run Loved To Death, a San Francisco curio shop -- specializing in medical and biological oddities, historical curiosities, and taxidermy dioramas -- met Stefanos, a spiritual teacher who came in the store with an honest-to-goodness cannibal fork, they had to bite.

"This is just some of the stuff my family had laying around, but I don't eat people so it just doesn't seem like something I want to have," Stefanos explained.

The fork is nearly a foot long and comes from the Fiji Islands, whose natives have been known to engage in cannibalism from time to time over the centuries, according to salesperson Wednesday Mourning, who, along with Loved To Death owner Audra Kunkle, stars on "Oddities San Francisco," debuting June 23 on the Science Channel.

"Someone would come and kill someone from [one] tribe and [the other] would go and retaliate and kill and eat the other person," Mourning said. "It's kind of like a trade of souls and flesh."

Stefanos chewed on this for a moment before spitting out: "It's not something I ever used it for."

Mourning said that while cannibalism was popular in certain tribes across history, human flesh isn't the healthiest food one can eat.

"Some rare neuro-degenerative disorders called prion diseases can be spread eating contaminated human flesh," she said.

Kunkle was hungry for a different kind of knowledge: Figuring out why Stefanos' parents gave him the cannibal fork in the first place.

"Well, it may sound a little odd, but I actually do drink human blood," he said. "I do enjoy the taste and the texture."

Blood, like flesh, can be bloody awful for one's diet, Mourning said.

"Ingesting too much blood can be toxic because it's very rich, and humans have problems excreting excess iron that can lead to a liver swelling disease called hemochromotosis," she explained.

At the moment, Stefanos was more interested in green money than red blood so he sold the cannibal fork to Kunkle for $150, and some might say he made a real killing.

Prehistoric Bones In English Cave Point To Ritual Eating Of Human Flesh

BORDEAUX—Mealtime in Gough’s cave in Somerset, England, 14,700 years ago, was not for the faint of heart. Humans were on the menu, for consumption by their own kind. Anthropologists have long studied evidence for cannibalism in the human fossil record, but establishing that it occurred and ascertaining why people ate each other have proved difficult tasks. A new analysis provides fresh insights into the human defleshing that occurred at this site and what motivated it—and hints that cannibalism may have been more common in prehistory than previously thought.

Studies of fossil human cannibalism have traditionally focused on signs of bone damage from stone tools–cut marks from slicing muscle off the bone and percussion marks from extracting the nutritious marrow inside—so as to differentiate human activity from that of large cats and other carnivores. Figuring out whether people stripped human flesh from bone for ritual reasons or for food is tricky, however. To that end, scientists have recently begun looking for signs of human tooth marks on bone, which leave no doubt about intent. Using criteria developed by Palmira Saladié of the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution in Tarragona, Spain, and her colleagues for identifying human tooth marks on bone, researchers re-examined the human remains from Gough’s cave. The results were striking. Taphonomist Silvia M. Bello of the Natural History Museum in London presented the team’s findings September 22 at the annual meeting of the European Society for the Study of Human Evolution here in Bordeaux.

Bello reported that the human bones from the cave representing a minimum of four individuals, including a child around three years old, show abundant evidence of gnawing by humans, in addition to extensive cut marks from stone tools. Indeed, most of the bones from below the neck bear the telltale tooth marks. The cannibals appear to have filleted the major muscles with stone knives and then chewed off the remaining morsels. Even the ends of toe bones and ribs bones were nibbled, perhaps so that their modest stores of marrow could be sucked out.

Intriguingly, in contrast to the postcranial bones, none of the skull bones show tooth marks. They were thoroughly defleshed, however. Every bit of soft tissue—including eyes, ears, cheeks, lips and tongue—seems to have been meticulously removed with stone tools. Yet the cannibals took care to preserve the vault of the cranium, separating it from the face and shaping the edges to produce what Bello and her colleagues have previously argued to be drinking cups and bowls of the sort well known from ethnographic accounts.

All told, the evidence from Gough’s Cave suggests to Bello that cannibalism there was both practical and ritualistic. She explained that cannibalism for survival—think Donner party—seems unlikely because the site contains a huge number of animal remains, suggesting that people were not starving. In addition, if they were eating their own kind out of sheer desperation, Bellow says, they probably would not have taken so much care in removing the brain and instead would have just smashed the skull to access the fatty organ inside. Instead, she argues that processing of the human body was a tradition—people at Gough’s ate the bodies of their fellow humans for nutrition rather than letting good meat go to waste, and then produced the skull cups for ritual. In fact, Bello suspects that, given the practical benefits, cannibalism was relatively common in the past.

In the question and answer period following Bello’s presentation, paleoanthropologist Jean Jacques Hublin of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig asked what the evidence was for the fashioning of skull cups being a ritual endeavor as opposed to a utilitarian one. Bello responded by noting among other things that historical accounts indicate that Australian aborigines who made skull cups used the containers every day, but knew exactly who every cup came from. She also commented to this reporter that the child’s skull would not have made for a good drinking vessel because its sutures were not yet fully fused, yet it was processed in exactly the same way as the adult skulls—another indication that the skull cups had ritualistic significance. Replying to a question from the audience about whether children might have been partaking of the human feast, Bello said that tooth marks from children cannot be distinguished from adult tooth marks, because only the tip of the tooth leaves the mark.

Papua New Guinea Cannibals Charged

CANBERRA, Australia -- Authorities have arrested 29 people accused of being part of a cannibal cult in Papua New Guinea's jungle interior and charged them with the murders of seven suspected witch doctors, police said Friday.

Madang Police Commander Anthony Wagambie confirmed a report in The National newspaper that said the cult members allegedly ate their victims' brains raw and made soup from their penises.

"They don't think they've done anything wrong; they admit what they've done openly," Wagambie told The Associated Press by telephone.

He said the killers believed that their victims practiced "sanguma," or sorcery, and that they had been extorting money as well as demanding sex from poor villagers for their supernatural services.

By eating witch doctors' organs, the cult members believed they would attain supernatural powers and literally become bullet-proof, he said.

"It's prevalent cult activity," Wagambie said. He said he believes there could be between 700 and 1,000 cult members in several villages in Papua New Guinea's remote northeast interior. All of them might have eaten human flesh, he said.

According to the report in The National, which is published in Papua New Guinea, 28 men and women appeared in a Madang court on Tuesday. Wagambie said they were charged with willful murder.

It was not clear what happened to the 29th suspect. Murder is punishable by death in Papua New Guinea, a poor South Pacific island nation.

Wagambie said the suspects were not required to plea to the murder charges and were being held in custody.

Police will gather more witness statements before pressing charges related to the cannibalism allegations, he said.

Cannibalism was part of traditional culture in Papua New Guinea, where human flesh was known as "long pig," and survived in isolated pockets into the latter part of the 20th century while the country was under Australian colonial rule.

Wagambie, 36, said he had never heard of a previous case of cannibalism in his lifetime.

He expected police would make around 100 arrests over the weekend for cult-related crimes.

Four of the seven victims were murdered last week, Wagambie said, adding that no remains had been recovered.

Face Eating Attack In China

A woman has been hospitalized in China after a drunken bus driver allegedly attacked her and began gnawing on her face.

The woman, identified as "Du," was driving near a bus station in Wenzhou on Tuesday when a man ran into the street, blocking her car. The man, a bus driver identified as "Dong," allegedly climbed onto the hood of Du's car and began hitting the windshield, according to the Malaysia Chronicle.

Du got out of the car, and allegedly Dong tackled her to the ground, where he began chewing on her face, according to Shanghai Daily. Witnesses say they attempted to pull Dong off of her, but were unable to do so.

Dong was ultimately stopped by police, What's On Dalian reports. Officers say he had been drinking heavily prior to the incident.

Doctors say Dong did enough damage to the woman's face that she will need plastic surgery to repair her nose and lips.

Brazil Child Porn & Cannibalism Ring Broken Up

SAO PAULO — Brazilian police said Thursday they have broken up a ring that used Internet file sharing to distribute child pornography in at least 34 countries.

Inspector Diana Calazans Mann told reporters the files exchanged by members of the group were "very repugnant." She said there were images of "infants, children and teenagers being sexually abused."

"We were extremely shocked with the images," she added. "I have never seen anything as bad."

Another officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press, said 15 arrest warrants had been issued in Brazil and that at least 12 people had been arrested.

Those arrested could be charged with production and distribution of pornographic images of children and teenagers, the officer said, and face the possibility of as much as six years in jail.

He also said investigators also found "accounts written by members of the ring describing acts of cannibalism, as well as the rape of children by their parents, kidnaps and murders." He said police "are trying to determine if they describe actual events or are the fruit of the imaginations of those who wrote them and posted them on their internet chat accounts."

Police said in an earlier statement that users were located in 34 countries including the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Britain and Venezuela.

Interpol, the international police organization, has been notified so that "investigations can get under way in those countries and those involved in the ring be identified," the statement said.

Alexander Kinyua, Maryland Man Who Ate Kujoe Agyei-Kodie, First Ranted On Facebook

JOPPATOWNE, Maryland (AP) — The Kenyan college student suspected of killing and eating parts of a man staying at his home ranted months ago about "mass human sacrifices" on Facebook, one of several details that emerged Friday in the second gruesome case of alleged cannibalism in the U.S. in a week.

Authorities say Alex Kinyua, 21, admitted using a knife to kill and carve up Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, before eating his heart and parts of his brain. The older man had been staying with Kinyua's family for about six weeks at their townhouse in the Baltimore suburb of Joppatowne.

Both the victim and his alleged killer had attended nearby Morgan State University, a historically black university in Baltimore. Kinyua had just finished his junior year, and Agyei-Kodie was a graduate student who last attended classes in 2008. Both men were also originally from Africa; Kinyua was from Kenya and Agyei-Kodie from Ghana.
