Are the Horseman of the Apocalypse about to begin their ride ?

Last summer, scientists performed an experiment that could have been ripped from the script of a Hollywood thriller. Sealed off in high-tech laboratories in the Netherlands and Wisconsin, researchers transformed one of the world’s most deadly viruses, transmissible by direct contact, into versions capable of spreading through the air.

Now, scientists have modified bird flu so that it can be passed easily between humans. The work has already been published for all the world to see. The new super bird flu has a 59 percent mortality rate compared to; the Great Flu Pandemic of 1918 that claimed the lives of over 50 million had only a mortality rate of 2 percent.

Yoshihiro Kawaoka at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Ron Fouchier at Erasmus University in the Netherlands have both been able to modify bird flu so that it now is easily transmitted between humans. Fouchier proudly told the New Scientist, his flu “is transmitted as efficiently as seasonal flu,” but with a near 60 percent mortality rate!

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth”. (Rev 6:8 )

“with the beasts of the earth” – Are not viruses dangerous animals, venomous, wild beasts?

Will the rider of the pale horse bring plagues of viruses that will perhaps take out a fourth part of the Earth? Could one flu epidemic cause a fourth part of the world to die? Yes, with the new lethality of manufactured viruses it is almost a sure bet.
