One of the most fascinating and strategic topics in the Bible is that of its record regarding the earth’s earliest ages, sometimes referred to as the antediluvian age. An age shrouded in mystery, and an age to which the pyramids and great wonders of the world belong. It is an age, which was destroyed by God’s judgment. A flood, which left the world permanently, altered, the evidence of which is found in the traditions of many cultures around the world.

Because portions of the Genesis record touches, “dark areas” of angelic activity it is sometimes objected to with the objection being that “we should focus our attention on Christ not on evil”, yet such an objection tends to obscure our understanding of the importance of the Genesis record. The Genesis record is relevant to our world today. Furthermore, if our victory as believers is to be complete, it is important for us to study all of the Scriptures

In any war, knowledge of the enemy is a necessity, and the Genesis record defines the malignity of evil and the great underlying conflict, which has beset our world. Our Lord was asked, "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the age?" (Matthew 24:3) He graphically stated that the end of the age would climax, “As the days of Noe were, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be”. Our Lord thus not only verified the historicity of the antediluvian world, but also reminded us of the relationship between the days before the Flood, and the characteristics of the days just before His return. The Lord declares that the characteristics of these days, strange as they may seem, are to be repeated in postdiluvian times. It is consequently important, from the standpoint of both understanding history and understanding the future, that we understand the events, which took place during the days of Noah.
